Our German sister organisation, the Socialist German Workers Youth, will organise a 14th congress this weekend. Published below is the greeting of the Communist Youth Movement of the Netherlands (CJB).

Dear comrades,

On the occasion of the 14th Congress of the Socialist German Workers Youth (SDAJ), which is to be held from the 13th till the 15th of March in Frankfurt, we send you comradely greetings from the communists of the Netherlands.

More than ever the necessity for the struggle for socialism-communism is apparent throughout Europe. The youth of today grow up facing the consequences of the sharpening contradictions of the capitalist system and they receive the short end of the stick on many levels: increasing exploitation and reduced job security, more expensive education, less available housing, and the list goes on. It is necessary for the youth to realize that these consequences of the capitalist mode of production can only be overcome through the struggle for socialism-communism.

Furthermore, tensions between capitalist countries and their imperialist unions are growing. In Europe we can discern these tensions in the developments around Brexit and the rising tensions between NATO and Russia. The capitalists increasingly use the tool of racism to pit the working peoples of the world against one another. Against these widening gaps it is necessary we position an internationalist attitude for peace amongst the peoples of the world. The enemy is not in the working class of another country; it is the capitalists – both domestic and foreign – and their imperialist unions.

The SDAJ stands at the vanguard of the struggle of the German youth for their contemporary rights and against imperialist wars and interventions. It is incredibly important for the communist youth organisations of the world to band together and learn from each other’s experiences. This exchange of experiences and positions is done in a series of international summits, most notably the Meeting of European Communist Youth Organizations (MECYO) to which both the SDAJ and the CJB contribute, but also through the presence of the CJB at the Festival der Jugend and of the SDAJ at the summer camp of the CJB.

In the spirit of proletarian solidarity and internationalism, the CJB wishes you success with the 14th Congress of the SDAJ. With persistence we can overcome difficulties and strengthen the communist youth organisations and parties, in order to organize more young workers and students in the struggle for socialism-communism. As the German communist playwright and poet Bertolt Brecht once wrote: “change the world: it needs it.”

Comradely greetings,

International Bureau
